Vintage DTM: the old A & N building

A&N sat on the corner of 5th and E. Main for many decades, both before and after the construction of the downtown pedestrian mall.  Once a two-story building, it fell victim to a 1968 fire at the M.C. Thomas Furniture store next door. The business would carry on for many more years and is seen here in the early 1970s as a single-story shop.  In 2008, the vacated space would serve as the local headquarters for the Obama Campaign. Shortly thereafter, a major renovation of the building would transform the location into the Commonwealth Restaurant and Skybar, which includes one of the few rooftop spaces on the DTM currently open to the public.
